1001 Chairs--sit in for the release of Ai Weiwei in Munich
Sit ins are taking place at Chinese consulates around the world today to protest the detention of Ai Weiwei, which started when he was taken into custody at the airport in Beijing on April 3. He is still in custody and HERE is recent news about the disappearance of a human rights lawyer with connections to Ai. These photos are from the 1001 Chairs sit in in Munich. And HERE is a piece I wrote about Ai for the American Craft blog. Free Ai Weiwei and all Chinese intellectuals, artists, and others who are being held for being brave enough to express themselves publicly NOW.
